When I am in a deep sleep and my alarm goes off for work, I hit the snooze button. I slip off in a dream only to wake back up to reality in 5 min. from what had seemed like an all out adventure lasting days. I took the idea and themed my video as such. I started this project right before I left for basic training in the Marine Corps. I've been very busy and havent had time to finish some things...

    Went through way back in 1987 - forgot the class number, but we started the Tuesday after Memorial Day... then on to RSS Class 8719 (Number One, First in Line, Conway's Last, Guarido's First) - STILL have and fit into my UDT Shorts.

    9:28 That cat walk does not exist anymore. The only remaining part are the concrete support beams which kinda just awkwardly stick out of the bay. 9:41 That Glass building is also the new Naccs HQ. I can proudly say I helped move every single piece of furniture from the old building into the new 😂 👍

    The first building in the video is where all aircrew would form up for classing up and classes is being condemned cause a baby possum fell out of the ceiling into the cage. One of the instructors said they wont fix the building for use they will just make the outside look pretty since the repairs for making the building serviceable would cost to much. they planned on moving to another building removing the original wings and painting new ones at the new building. My class 2343 was the last one to have a full cycle through it. We made our class patch honoring that possum who made a huge change to the history of aircrew training. the patch is several possums wearing piss covers diving out of a c-130 with "END OF AN ERA" at the bottom of the patch. HOORAH AIRCREW!

    Welcome to Naval Aircrewman. Best Job in the world in the Navy. We didnt have Aircrew Candidate when I first became and Aircrewman, just SERE and DWEST and EW Training at North Island for the job. When I went for my 2nd tour the Detailer mentioned AC Candidate and I asked if I needed it since I already had my wings, He decided not. I just did DWEST Again and then EW training at Corey Station in PCola. FE School, later at VP31 and Dwest again. Again, Welcome and its the BEST Job you will ever have.

    I went to this school in the summer of 1990 after Boot Camp in Orlando. The President was HW Bush, that's 32 years ago. A lot has change. Many same drills but different places in the base. We did the 1 mile swim outside in the pool. We did the obstacle course a lot. The mess hall was very nice. It was officer quality type but for enlisted. As of matter of fact, it was the best base out of my 5 year enlistment. After Pensacola, we went to Millington, TN for A school and that was a downgrade. That base sucks and the mess hall was Alcatrazz level.

    what are the fitness standards to get to and be successful as Aircrew? I know they don’t take the PST (unless rescue swimmer) so what standards are the being evaluated on? Just curious because, I remember when i was in Pensacola for A school and people were dropping like flies from Aircrew school for physical fitness.

      When I went through at the beginning of the year, you ran an in PRT and an out PRT. It's navy PT standards, even though there are Marines and Sailors both in the course. The minimum requirements for the in PRT were a SAT/HIGH and the minimum for the out PRT was GOOD/LOW. If you fail either of them, you will get held for PT improvement, and get rolled into a new class.

    The Enlisted Crew Member Candidate Water Survival Syllabus seems way to heavy. It looks and sounds like a Rescue Swimmer Course. Do the Fixed Wing and Helicopter Pilots go through the exact same syllabus ? S/F B.M. 6 years active H-53 Maintenance Technician, Crew Chief, Crew-member, NATOPS NCO, Maintenance Inspector, 1,000 H-53 flight hours, 4,000 total flight hours.

    This seems so strange to me. Went to boot at San Diego in 1970, NATTC at NAS. Memphis. AT school for 6 months the C school for 3 more. After that shipped out to my squadron and was assigned to a flight school, 6 months later I got my wings. I got sent back for SERE, DWEST, and altitude training 2 years later. It was a whole different world then. GO NAVY.

  • @chrispotter3190
    @chrispotter3190 4 роки тому

    In case anyone is looking at this in 2020 or later, NACCS has gotten even easier. The only PT you do in actual class is one week of “hell week” where u do maybe 3 hours of pt a day. The rest of the day you swim. Every other week is just classroom training pretty much. It’s super easy. If you’re a decent swimmer and can do a push-up, this school is cake. The single worst part of this school house is the waiting. You’re in backlog for almost 2 months before u start the actual school, which only lasts 4-5 weeks. Then you’re in grad hold for 2 months. Then you’re in barracks support for a month before you start A school. So much waiting

    • @exotech3325
      @exotech3325 3 роки тому

      Really? I'll be there in after boot. I've been busting my ass because I'm told its going to be difficult. Like hours of PT every day, 10 mile runs, etc. The swim I'm not worried about.

    • @chrispotter3190
      @chrispotter3190 3 роки тому

      exotech nah man. That’s how it used to be like 5+ years ago. And that was for backlog before naccs. Before quarantine when I was in backlog, the only pt we did was going to the gym twice a day to do our own workouts which for a lot of people was just playing basketball or racquetball or something. And then they closed the gyms so we didn’t workout at all lol. It’s not bad. Now RSS is a different story. If you’re a rescue swimmer then you’ll be doing a hell of a lot more workouts

    • @chrispotter3190
      @chrispotter3190 3 роки тому

      J Hunny you don’t need to complete a 2nd class swim no. They may not even offer it to u at boot camp. Just get ur strokes down for naccs. U could learn the Aircrewmans creed. Apart from that there’s nothing really for u to do to prepare. It’s not bad

    • @skeezahkahal8464
      @skeezahkahal8464 3 роки тому

      Sorry one more question, how does aircrew get there orders (specifically dry aircrew)? I heard dry aircrew will most likely get put as a AWO on the P8s and I was wondering what bases have p8 squadrons and if you get a choice on which one you go to or is it completely needs of the navy?

      This is the candidate school. The pipeline consists of much more than this. Naccs is just to ensure the candidates can survive in the water and are in decent physical shape. You start flying and training with the aircraft at FRS
